CASA COCO · ZIPOLITE

WINDOWS AND SCREENS / CASEMENT WINDOWS

Simple, tight and easy to repair.

The casement is the simplest window system and the one that seals best, because the leaf closes against the frame along its whole perimeter. It opens fully, is easy to clean on both sides and, if something loosens over the years, it can be repaired on site.

For Casa Coco in Zipolite, we made doors, shutters and casement windows with Permacasco, built for the humidity, salt and sun of the coast.

HOW WE MAKE THEM

What makes a window seal.

  • Leaf and frame with an overlap to seal against air and water.
  • A drip at the bottom of the leaf and a sloped sill so water runs off.
  • Hinges, latches and stays chosen for the size of the leaf.
  • Single, double or triple glazing, chosen for the climate and the noise of the site.
  • Seals around the whole leaf, against air, water and dust.
  • Exterior finish, with more frequent maintenance on the coast.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Wood casement windows

Should it open in or out?

Opening out, the leaf stays out of the way inside and wind presses it against the frame, but it is cleaned and protected from outside. Opening in, it is easier to clean and handle, but takes room when open. We decide with your architect based on use and façade.

Do they work on the coast?

Yes. At Casa Coco in Zipolite we made casement windows for humidity, salt and sun. On the coast we use stable wood, corrosion-resistant hardware and a finish that is renewed more often.

Can they have insect screens?

Yes. An insect screen or a wood shutter can be built into the same window frame.

Can it have double or triple glazing?

Yes. We design the leaf section for single, double or triple glazing; double and triple glazing insulate from cold, heat and noise and reduce condensation.
